Howdy! Rex here.
While the team and I spend the next few weeks putting together the final draft of RFJ, I'd like to take a moment to formally introduce you to Steve and ZQ The Lost Tracks of Rock and Roll!
Steve's a great guy who, like many of us, has a fondness for the one-and-only WZZQ, along with a deep understanding of the impact it had (and continues to have).
A few months back, I became aware of his internet radio venture, which pre-dates RFJ's test transmissions by a year and a half. This link takes you to the mission statement for his station.
Long story short, Steve and I have eerily similar philosophies about what radio can (and should) be. That said, with my deepest thanks to Steve, RFJ and ZQ are going to work together to serve a wide variety of listeners who crave something different. We're committed to giving local and regional musicians an outlet to share their talents.
For the next few weeks, you can hear ZQ The Lost Tracks of Rock and Roll on RFJ from 4 PM to 9 PM Monday through Friday, and Sundays starting at 5:00 PM!
11:00 AM MONDAY - WE'RE BACK! Thanks for letting us know how much you missed us yesterday. We'll try our best to not tinker on holiday weekends anymore.
Rex here. RFJ has been down for several hours now because of a technical issue "beyond our control". Unfortunately, the tech team that I hoped would be back online by mid-morning is not responding to tech tickets today because of the holiday. I usually have nothing but stellar customer support from them, so I can't even be mad, but I am disappointed for those of you who have been reaching out wondering where we are. At this point, we're almost certainly going to be down for the rest of Sunday, 4/4 and into Monday. Deepest apologies, once again. Please monitor this space for updates.
Radio Free Jackson is currently in "Soft Launch Mode" - we're aiming to expand our lineup VERY SOON! Be on the lookout here, and on our Facebook page.
